Feel Stronger and Relaxed Physically and Mentally through Pre natal Yoga

Pre natal yoga can be a solution for many of the problems expectant mothers face during pregnancy, even if they are new to yoga. During your pregnancy, you may begin to feel you do not know your body; after all,  it is going through many transformations to bring your baby into this world. Practicing yoga during pregnancy can give you a greater control over both your body movements and breathing. Through pre natal yoga, you will begin to feel stronger and relaxed, physically as well as mentally.

Pre natal yoga inspires a positive, upbeat mood, which is necessary more than ever when you are pregnant. Also, the focus, relaxation, and breathing techniques learned in prenatal yoga classes will help you several months down the road, during labor. Quite naturally, you will find you are more in control of your body as well as mind during the crucial phase of childbirth.

Pre natal yoga should be specially adapted to your ability to perform different poses during this precious time. Practicing yoga during pregnancy does take some special instruction; if you don’t want to go to prenatal yoga classes, a prenatal yoga DVD can also be very useful.

Utilizing Physical Supports During Prenatal Exercise

In prenatal yoga, you will be required to adapt the normal poses according to your convenience so that the poses are safe for you as well as your baby. Stretches will be modified, since your body flexibility is different when you are pregnant, due to a hormone known as relaxin. Deep stretches are not recommended during pre natal yoga. When practicing yoga for pregnancy, avoid poses that make you lie on your back during your second and third trimester, since the focus should be on optimum flow of blood towards the uterus. Try to benefit from yoga poses by utilizing physical supports (like a chair, etc.) to assist your pregnancy-altered body balance and prevent injury.

Make sure to consult your doctor before you proceed to attempt any form of exercise during pregnancy. It is also advisable to go to a doctor familiar with yoga, since all are not acquainted with benefits of practicing yoga during pregnancy. If you are able to show your doctor that the poses will put no undue stress on your body, and that the mental and physical focusing will help you during labor, even a doctor who hasn’t heard about pre natal yoga will in all probability support your choice.
